What this service involves.
Diagnosis comes before the repair level
Similar symptoms can come from very different faults. Low or degraded fluid where the design permits a fluid check, a wiring or network fault, a failed solenoid, valve-body wear, an internal clutch problem, or an engine-performance issue can each change shift behavior. Scanning the controller and testing the indicated system helps determine whether the appropriate path is an external repair, internal repair, rebuild, replacement, or an electronic setup procedure.
Repair, rebuild, and replacement are different paths
A repair addresses an identified fault without necessarily renewing the full unit. A rebuild removes and disassembles the transmission so worn or failed internal parts can be addressed and the unit reassembled. A replacement installs another suitable unit. Condition, parts availability, vehicle use, and the documented failure determine which options make sense; EXA explains the supported options before work is authorized.
Programming does not repair damaged hardware
Controller programming, a solenoid strategy, adaptation reset, or relearn may be required after a supported repair or module replacement. Those procedures can establish the information a working system needs, but they do not restore worn clutches, repair a leak, or correct a failed mechanical component. Mechanical findings and electronic requirements are evaluated together rather than treating a scan-tool procedure as a universal fix.

What to know before the visit.
Does EXA rebuild and replace transmissions in-house?
Yes. EXA performs mechanical transmission repairs, complete rebuilding, and replacement in-house. The recommendation follows diagnosis because the same driving complaint does not mean every transmission needs to be removed or rebuilt.
Will a transmission relearn fix slipping or a hard shift?
A relearn is appropriate when the manufacturer calls for it after certain repairs or setup changes. It does not repair worn or damaged hardware. EXA diagnoses the mechanical and electronic causes first, then performs the supported procedure when it belongs in the repair path.
Can you enter a solenoid strategy after valve-body work?
EXA performs supported solenoid-strategy and transmission setup procedures when required for the exact vehicle and installed parts. VIN, controller, part information, software access, and procedure coverage are checked before that function is promised.
Can I bring a replacement transmission or controller?
Call before purchasing or delivering a unit. Compatibility can depend on identifiers, calibration, security requirements, and supporting parts beyond a model description. EXA needs the VIN and unit information to evaluate whether installation and any required setup are supported.
